Speakers: Fernando Montenegro and Ricardo Gerardi Topic: Docker Security ConsiderationsIt has become apparent that, over the past few years, there’s been a tectonic shift when looking at options for delivering infrastructure for IT. Virtualization is commonplace and cloud offerings - public, private, hybrid, and anything in-between - has jumped in popularity. Somewhat in parallel with these developments, there has been a tremendous interest in the concept of ‘containerized’ microservices - delivered on top of these modern IT options - as well the de-facto adoption of Docker as the standard for delivering these containers.There are significant security considerations to Docker and the ecosystem surrounding it. These include, but are not limited to: just how effective container-based separation is, what are the key networking concepts for Docker containers, what new security challenges Docker introduces, and how Docker can be leveraged for more efficient security operations.This session will include:
- key concepts around Docker and containers - including a couple of live demos
- security features available within Docker
- challenges around providing Docker functionality securely
- pointers to additional content.

Speaker: James Arlen Topic: Preventing Home Automation Security DisastersIncreasingly, our lives are becoming entangled with gadgets that require more than simple installation, they require WiFi and an IP address. As we move from upholstered caves to house-shaped machines that automagically know when to turn lights on or off, raise or lower the temperature, unlock the front door upon our approach – we might want to consider having some security. Except that’s not what’s happening. Instead, we have a dire situation where it’s far more likely that our homes are going to refuse our will or even be turned against us – Cryptolocker on your laptop is one problem, the equivalent attack on your air conditioner isn’t going to be much fun at all.
