Michael Perklin is Head of Security and Investigative Services at Ledger Labs, a blockchain consultancy headquartered in Toronto. After becoming involved with bitcoin and blockchain technology in 2010, Michael launched the world’s first Blockchain Security company in 2012 and is now the most sought-after security professional in the cryptocurrency world.

Michael has provided testimony to the Canadian Senate on blockchain investigations, provided blockchain evidence and affidavits to courts around the world, and is chairman of the Steering Committee that has drafted the world’s first Cryptocurrency Security Standard. In this talk, Michael will address some of the blockchain industry’s highest profile hacks and how they exfiltrated funds from a variety of exchanges, illustrating the need for what the cybersecurity world has enjoyed for decades – formal standards.

Michael will discuss the CryptoCurrency Security Standard which has been developed by both newly-established cryptocurrency companies as well as incumbents Deloitte and PwC, and has become the industry’s go-to guide on securing cryptocurrencies.
